The sparkles shine through

There are some things I don't talk about often.
Mostly because those things are too painful to re-visit.

I had to say good-bye to someone 13 years ago, today.
She was beautiful, and innocent, and she loved me even though at the time, I was a fuck-up.
She would have been 18 today...turning 19 in August.

I have her picture in my living room.
Forever five.
I look at it sometimes and I wonder what her life would have been like.
I think about her having her first boyfriend, getting her license, going to the prom...

To say I miss her seems like an insult.  My heart was punctured that day, and that has never healed.
I just learned to live around it.

Love you, M.E.M.
I still wear sparkly jewelry just for you.
