Put 'em up, put 'em up.

So.My insurance premiums are going up yet again.  Benefits are the same so at least there is that.
It's going to cost me another $36.00 a month.
I know that doesn't sound like a lot.  But when you've already taken a 5% pay cut and no chance of getting my usual 3% raise, that adds up to 8% less in one year.  But my utilities have gone up, the cost of food has gone up, gas keeps climbing, and Ryan keeps growing.

It's hard.  But then, it's always been hard.
Everything I have, I fought for it.
For every two steps I take forward, something comes along and knocks me back three.

I cried at work.
I cried in my car.
I cried at home.

Tomorrow, no matter how tired I am, I will pick myself up and keep fighting.
Because that is what I do.

Obligatory Dragon*Con post...PICS Y'ALL!!

So I can't figure out how to embed my flickr pics and I don't want to allow another Facebook app SO...
Here is my Dragon*Con story...with pics!! (click on the pics to embigen)

The view from my swanky hotel.

Super excited to be in the ATL.

Now I've mentioned a few times already, there was a lot of CosPlay going on.  For those who don't know what that means it's basically people who dress up in costume.  Some people look okay.  But there are a lot of people that go ALL OUT and look absolutely amazing.
The con can get extremely crowded even between the five hotels and the subsequent city blocks surrounding them, so it's not always possible to get pictures of these great CosPlayers.  But I got quite a few...enjoy!

This guy was remote controlled!  Sweetness.

Super Spaceballs!

More than meets the eye.
Can you believe there is an actual person in there?
Amazing!

Any Dr. Who? fans out there?

Hands down the BEST Harry Potter CosPlay I saw all weekend.
This Snape was in front of me at one point and I could have sworn it was really Alan Rickman.
Nice.

Some more Harry Potter CosPlay greatness.
This Hagrid looks great!

Cho, Tonks, Lupin, Cedric.  This was at the Yule Ball.
I also saw a wonderful Prof. Trelawny and I'm mad
that I didn't get her pic.

Cool Boba Fett

Mount Up!

Today's blog is brought to you by the letter C.
COOKIE!!

Nice proton pack.

Very cool Doc Oc.

INCREDIBLE!

Before I make my blog actually explode I'll stop there for now.  Don't worry...more to come later!
And just so you know...I am TOTALLY doing CosPlay next year.  I already have a few ideas in mind.  :D

My spaztastic fangirl moment

So, all the excitement that was felt leading up to my trip sort of bled into everything I did ON my trip.
Dragon*Con not only lived up to my expectations but totally exceeded them.
I had the most amazing time, even by myself.
There was CosPlay going on everywhere, great panels, one uncomfortable panel, singing, hollering, celebrities galore and I even got hit on by a homeless man.
But the most amazing thing that happened?
I MET WIL FUCKING WHEATON!
(which is in no way associated with William Fucking Shatner*)

Yes, I totally spazzed.
Yes, I knocked over his sign.
Yes, my camera would not cooperate.
But I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
Wil was extremely patient and even laughed (very, very loudly) at me and totally  made fun of me for taking up so much of his time, after being kind enough to sign my copy of "Memories of the Future: Volume 1". (Which you should totally buy, cause it's awesome!)
And thank goodness he did.
I was near tears and his laughter actually calmed me down a bit.
You see, Wil gets it.
He is a fan as well.  And totally understands what it is like to meet someone you really admire.
So for all of my friends who make fun of me because of who I SQUEE over?
Fuck you.
Wil is awesome and you are just haters.

And although he'll probably never read this: Thank you, Wil, from the bottom of my heart.  You made this woman VERY happy and made my first con experience totally worth the 12 hour drive.

*I've seen this on the internets but had the awesome, incredible privilege of seeing part of it live at Dragon*Con.  A BIG Thank you to Wil and Paul and Storm for making us SQUEE with delight!  (Is it wrong that I think the 'cape of dicks' is super-amazingly awesome?)  For those who have never seen...
